We're Helping Young Learners Overcome Pandemic Learning Loss
About Summer Scholars
Our community's youngest students were impacted the most by the remote learning brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic. In fact, many elementary school kids are still trying to catch up in learning fundamental reading and math concepts. Closing the learning gap is critical to success as students grow and strive to meet academic standards on their way to high school.
The pandemic also caused an already existing socioeconomic gap in schools to expand even more. Some students and families were more affected by the pandemic learning loss than their peers.
Summer Scholars aims to help students build their foundational math and reading skills, especially during the summer when learning momentum can slide. Our tuition-free sessions are with volunteer teen tutors who want to make a difference by helping the youngest scholars in our community.
