Sign your child up to be tutored on math facts and/or reading.

Matching

We'll use the info you share with us to match your child with a Summer Scholars tutor.

Attend Sessions

Your Summer Scholar will meet with their tutor once a week for five weeks at the Indian Prairie Public Library 

Math Focus

Math fact fluency is the ability to quickly and accurately recall the answer to basic math facts.

​

Math fact fluency contributes to a student's ability to solve problems quicker and more accurately. Fluency leads to success in future mathematics classes, and most importantly ... it builds your student's confidence in their math ability.​

Our focus on math fact fluency includes: 

·        Addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division 

·        Flashcards, worksheets, and fun math fact games

·        Math education in line with curriculum standards

Reading Focus

A child’s reading skills are important to their success in school, work, and life. Reading is the key for lifelong learning, and our goal is to help instill a love of reading.

 

Our focus will be on reading aloud together, making reading FUN. Reading aloud is one of the single-most important activities for building essential reading skills. ​

Our focus on reading includes: 

  • Choosing a book that is interesting to your student and appropriate for their learning level

  • Taking turns reading aloud

  • Asking basic questions to check for reading comprehension

  • Sounding out new words and talking about their meaning
